The buzz around the Internet of things (IoT), big data analytics and industry 4.0 has reached fever pitch not only in the industry but also among policy makers. In August, Gartner’s Hype Cycle for Emerging Technologies Special Report put IoT at the peak of the hype cycle. In Brussels, the Digital Single Market in May identified these emerging sectors as a building block for the growth potential of the Digital Economy.

María-José Sobrini

Director, Country Digitisation Acceleration, Cisco

María-José Sobrini leads Country Digitization initiatives in Europe, working with country leaders to accelerate their own digital agendas and existing policies and therefore advancing economic development and quality of life through well defined digitization initiatives.

Michael Hager

Head of Cabinet for Commissioner Oettinger

Michael Hager specialises in strategy, management and coordination of Cabinet with overall coordination of digital policy and digital single market. He also has relations with CONNECT and Directorate-General for Informatics (DIGIT).

Chris Gow

Senior Manager, Government Affairs, Cisco

Chris Gow is Cisco’s lead for data protection and European security policy in Government Affairs. He joined Cisco in early 2008 and alongside privacy and security, plays an active role in the Government Affairs team on spectrum, cloud and IoT policy. He is currently the Chair of DIGITAL EUROPE’s Privacy and Security Group and Vice-Chair of the Digital Economy Policy Group.  DIGITAL EUROPE is the main European industry association for tech manufacturers in Brussels.

Dirk Slama

Director of Business Development of Bosch Software Innovations 

Dirk Slama is Director of Business Development at Bosch Software Innovations. As Conference Chair of the Bosch ConnectedWorld, Dirk helps shaping the IoT strategy of Bosch. Dirk has over 20 years experience in very large-scale application projects, system integration and Business Process Management. His international work experience includes projects for Lufthansa Systems, Boeing, AT&T, NTT DoCoMo, HBOS and others. Dirk is a frequent speaker at conferences, as well as co-author of three successful books: Enterprise BPM, Enterprise SOA and Enterprise CORBA. He holds an MBA from IMD Lausanne as well as a Diploma (MSc equivalent) in Computer Science from TU Berlin.     

Niels Carsten Bluhme

Director of Administration, Municipality of Albertslund, Copenhagen

Niels Carsten Bluhme has since 2003 been Area Director in the Municipality of Albertslund. He leads several national initiatives, triple helix networks and advisory boards related to green transition, such as Member of KTC, working group within Climate, Energy & Resources.

Kaja Kallas

Member of the European Parliament

Kaja Kallas is an Estonian politician. She is currently a Member of the European Parliament elected from Estonia and belongs to ALDE. In the European Parliament Kaja Kallas is a Vice-Chair of the Delegation to the EU–Ukraine Parliamentary Cooperation Committee. In addition she serves on the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy and is a member of the Delegation to the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly. 

Felix Bauer

Co-Founder and CEO, Aircloak

Felix Bauer holds a BA & MSci in Natural Sciences. In 2012, he joined the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems and started working on private analytics. In 2014, Aircloak was spun off from the institute and Felix manages the startup together with the institute's scientific director and a third co-founder.
