European Cybersecurity Month 2018 - Week Three blog roundup
Thought Leadership, Security
With week three of European Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2018 drawing to a close, here’s another roundup of some of our recent security-related blogs and announcements.
Steve Martino, VP and CISO, outlines why employees are both the most valuable and the most challenging part of the cybersecurity equation. The best way to keep the physical and virtual workplace safe, he argues, is through security training and education, accountability for cyber-standards, and by encouraging employees to become best-practice advocates.
Whether you buy it or build it, you will encounter risk in the cloud. Many organisations do not have a clear understanding of what they’re consuming in the cloud, let alone which services and vendors pose greatest risk to cybersecurity. Anthony Grieco, Trust Strategy Officer, Security and Trust Organisation, says organisations must establish holistic visibility of their cloud traffic to reduce risk, and seek to influence employee behaviours as they adopt new cloud capabilities.
Marc Blackmer, Product Marketing Manager, Threat Intelligence, describes the phenomenon of Fileless Malware, and why this type of threat poses a particular challenge for security professionals. Marc offers some examples of clever Fileless Malware identified by the Cisco Talos Threat intelligence team, and how Cisco has adapted its approach to catch them effectively.
When reviewing and triaging threats, surveys show that security teams find ‘integrated’ approaches to be easiest to implement and most cost-effective. Evgeny Mirolyubov, Technical Marketing Engineer, outlines how Cisco is seeking to empower security analysts with effective weapons that also streamline security operations, in the form of Cisco Threat Response and AMP Unity.
Lives depend on reliable information sharing in the NHS. This week Cisco UK announced that NHS Digital has selected Cisco and Computacenter to help secure the network that provides connectivity for health and social care services across the UK. Read on to find out why…
Fun fact: Did you know that Cisco sees and stops more threats every day than the total number of Google searches carried out each day? In his blog from earlier in the month, John Stewart, SVP, Chief Security and Trust Officer, offered some sobering facts about the scale of the cybersecurity challenge today and over the next few years.
