Wallisellen, February 20, 2019 – Cisco today announced the launch of a training program for ICT professionals in the field of cybersecurity in Switzerland. Called CyberSecurity Academy, the initiative is part of Cisco's comprehensive, long-term strategy to support nation-wide digitization in the country. The curriculum is provided in cooperation with Cisco Learning Partner Fast Lane, and in particular helps graduates to prepare for the Swiss Federal Certificate for Cyber Security Specialists, by ICT Berufsbildung Schweiz.

In the age of digitization and with the ever increasing number of connected devices and applications, cybersecurity has become a core concern for public institutions and businesses of all sizes, from small and medium sized to large companies and international corporations. Against this background, Cisco Switzerland has launched the CyberSecurity Academy.

"The CyberSecurity Academy is the first step in a series of digitization initiatives by Cisco Switzerland under our Country Digital Acceleration (CDA) program. Over the next months, you will see us working on specific digitization projects in areas such as education, healthcare and the workplace,” said Christian Martin, general manager of Cisco Switzerland. “Our aim is to contribute to the acceleration and sustainable implementation of digitization in Switzerland in a way that strengthens the economy and society – and helps our fellow citizens prepare for jobs in the digital economy.”

Value for society
Graduates of the CyberSecurity Academy shall be equipped with up-to-date IT security expertise, and with that shall have excellent opportunities for a next career step as a sought-after cybersecurity specialist. They will acquire comprehensive knowledge in all aspects of networks and cybersecurity and will have the skills to design and help deploy a holistic security environment as well as learn to anticipate, prevent, detect and handle complex security incidents.

"By 2026, Switzerland will need more than 88,000 new IT professionals. The digital transformation of the economy and society places particularly high demands on cybersecurity," says Bremtane Moudjeb, head of Cybersecurity at Cisco Switzerland. "With over 20 years of experience with the education initiative Cisco Networking Academy, as well as our technology expertise - including the expertise of Cisco Talos - we would like to make an active contribution so that more ICT security professionals can be trained in Switzerland."
